This quality standard covers identifying and assessing cardiovascular risk in adults without cardiovascular disease, and treatment to prevent primary and secondary cardiovascular disease. It describes high-quality care in priority areas for improvement.

This quality standard updates and replaces the existing quality standard on cardiovascular risk assessment and lipid modification (published September 2015). The topic was identified for update following a review of quality standards. The review identified updated guidance on cardiovascular disease: risk assessment and reduction, including lipid modification.
