Artificial intelligence (AI) and digital regulations service
We're playing a leading role in the AI and digital regulations service which supports the development and adoption of AI and data-driven technologies in health and care.
Background
AI and digital technologies have the potential to revolutionise health and social care, but developers and adopters of these technologies have told us that navigating the regulatory system can be complicated.
In response to this, we have worked with system partners to develop a trusted online service, where users with varying levels of knowledge and experience can easily understand the full range of information they might need, direct from the source.
Our newly launched AI and digital regulations service helps the NHS and wider care system to identify, pilot and rollout impactful AI and digital technologies. It’s useful and useable guidance will help to drive innovation into the hands of health and care professionals.

The service
The online service maps out the regulatory and Health Technology Assessment (HTA) pathway for AI and digital technologies. This helps users understand and navigate the pathway to support the development and widespread adoption of safe and effective technologies in health and social care. Guidance is provided on each stage of the pathway, and regular updates will be made to account for new developments in this area.
