Consultancy service

Get advice about the use of evidence-based decision making in health and social care.

We can give practical advice and support, based on NICE's world-renowned expertise, to help you improve health and social care in your country.

What we offer

Our international consultancy service covers a broad range of activities.

Our scoping exercises and situational analyses activities can provide a deeper understanding into an issue or challenge through a series of discussions.

Outputs from this include analysis and discussion with NICE on challenges and opportunities identified, and a report and roadmap outlining potential next steps, which can be acted upon.

Scoping exercises and situational analyses will vary in terms of complexity and length.

They will depend on the commitment and experience from the partner country organisation, and our expertise and resource requirements.

We can help organisations to:

  • build technical and institutional capability and capacity

  • improve stakeholder identification and management, and public engagement

  • review inception and implementation plans

  • form working groups or committees to set up new programmes

  • develop governance arrangements

  • develop frameworks, terms of engagement, methods and process manuals

  • implement new methods and carry out pilot projects

  • set up an health technology assessment (HTA) service

  • contextualise NICE guidelines to local settings.

We can offer practical advice, and review plans and outputs based on our expertise. Organisations can gain new capabilities, competencies and technical expertise in generating outputs that can be embedded, built upon and implemented.

Examples of topic areas we can cover as part of our international engagements:

  • Health technology assessment and management - from topic selection, to evaluation and managed access - of all types of technologies including medicines, medical devices, diagnostics, procedures, digital health technologies

  • clinical, public and social care guidelines and advice recommendations

  • quality standards and indicators

  • patient and public engagement

  • specific stakeholder engagement (e.g. industry or academia)

  • research, evidence reviews and health economics analysis

  • core business support for HTA/guidelines programmes and agencies. Including governance arrangements, business and resources.

  • data and analytics.

  • communication strategies for HTA/guidelines programmes and agencies

  • implementation of recommendations in local settings

  • NICE’s priority areas.

If you need complex or long-term support, we can break projects down into smaller packages of work. These separate engagements offer more flexibility in terms of timescales and resources.

We reformed the methods and processes in our Philippine National Formulary System with the assistance of NICE International, which helped us reflect more inclusivity, transparency and fairness in our engagement with stakeholders. We welcome this renewal of partnership with the UK Government through the Better Health Programme in this bold effort to institutionalize health technology assessment in the country.
