Public health advisory committees
Public health advisory committees (PHACs) were the standing committees responsible for the development of our public health guidance.
Please note these committees no longer operate - the below content is for information only.
Committee members
Each committee consisted of a chair, core members and topic expert members.
Members were drawn from:
the NHS
local government
healthcare professions
academia
the wider public health community.
We had multiple committees in operation at any one time.
Guidance topics were allocated to a committee following referral from the Department of Health and Social Care. The allocated committee considered the evidence and makes recommendations for people working in the NHS, local government and in the wider public, private and voluntary sectors.
